The Charleston Food Truck Federation and Mixson are launching the 2nd Charleston Food Truck Rodeo- Brunch style featuring a Giddy Goat Cheese Menu Challenge. Join us Sunday May 1st from 11am-3pm for the delicious event!
On Friday March 4th Charleston Wine & Food Festival brought 6 celebrity “Top Chefs” from previous seasons of the Bravo hit tv show to compete in a “One-Ingredient Challenge”. Handmade Homegrown Giddy Goat Cheese was the winning ingredient, voted on in advance by ticket-holders. Each Chef served up small plate of their recipe using one of our four flavors of Giddy Goat Cheese to over 500 guests and a panel of judges who voted on who they felt best used the cheese and deserved Holy City bragging rights.
The line-up included Ariane Durate, Ryan Scott, Kevin Gillespie, Brain Malarkey, Dave Martin, and Marisa Churchill. The winner: Chef Dave Martin earned the bragging rights this year with his Root Beer Braised Pork with Giddy Goat Cheese & Nueske’s Wilkd Cherrywood Bacon Grits.
Giddy Goat is extremely honored to be asked to be apart of this first year event. Owner Farrah Hoffmire has been making cheese for 3 years, 2 years professionally, and is thrilled by the recognition this event has given her products.

We are excited to announce that starting March 18th we will be apart of the MUSC Farmer’s Market every Friday from 8am to 2pm in the Horseshoe. To kick off and promote our knew presence at MUSC, Executive Chef Fred Bennet preformed a special event cooking demo on March 2nd using Giddy Goat Cheese. Chef Bennet created 3 dishes made with our Cracked Pepper and Sea Salt, Crystalized Ginger, and Pure fresh chevre, all which would be featured in the MUSC cafeteria the following week.
The event also served as a kick off of a health and nutrition month throughout MUSC and we highlighted the health benefits of goat cheese in that it is lower in fat and calories, higher in protein, higher in calcium, and easier to digest than cow’s milk cheese, while incorporating that our cheese is hormone-free with no preservatives.

We look forward to serving up Giddy Goat Cheese and delicious, healthy, local food starting this month!

Giddy Goat Cheese won local ingredient choice for Charleston Wine + Food Festival 2011* 6 Top Chef Challenge!
For the first time ever Charleston Wine & Food Festival will celebrate the Bravo hit TV show, Top Chef, with a bash and “Lowcountry Ingredient” challenge. A fan favorite from each season will be on-hand to serve a small plate of their signature recipe, using Giddy Goat Handemade Homegrown Goat Cheese, a Lowcountry ingredient voted on in advance by the event’s ticket-holders.
A panel of judges (including OPP’s very own, Mitchell Davis & the celebrated Lee Brothers!) will vote on each chef’s dish and decide who has won Holy City bragging rights. Tiffany Derry, a contestant from the 2010 season, will serve as Master of Ceremonies and Artisan Winery will match the chefs’ plates with complementary wine.
We think it is important to engage the community in learning the cycles and seasons of locally grown and produced food. Thank you for supporting us in following these natural cycles and being a part of building a stronger local food community!
